the component "Microsoft Exchange Forest Preparation" cannot be assigned the action "ForePrep"
I'm installing the exchange 2003 on windows server 2003 enterprise edition sp2, but I got below error: the component "Microsoft Exchange Forest Preparation" cannot be assigned the action "ForePrep" because Either you do not have permission to update the Active Directory schema or Active Directory service is currently too busy

Hi, Make sure that the account you are logged on with running Forestprep is a member of Schema- and Enterprise Admins. It needs to be. Also, verify that the Domain Controller holding the Schema FSMO Role is alive and reachable. Run dcdiag on your DCs and make sure that everyting is OK. Please reboot your Schemaster server and then try again. Hope it is helpful. IF there is multiple domains, make sure the AD replication is working fine and complete. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support

Hi Awen, It is not recommended to install Exchange server on DC server. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997407(EXCHG.80).aspx What does the ExchangeSetupLog in your C:\ driver say? Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support

when I install it on server which is not DC server, dcdiag said it is not DC, so I promote the server to DC. Hi Awen, Is it final part of the setup log? The setuplog indicates error: [11:59:10] Exchange organization container not found. Based on my experience, you may try the following steps to troubleshoot this issue: 1. Double confirm the user account you used to run ForestPrep is belonged to following roles: Enterprise Administrator Schema Administrator Domain AdministratorLocal Machine Administrator Refer to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124110(EXCHG.65).aspx 2. Change a new installation media and then try again. Hope it is helpful. Fiona Liao TechNet Community Support
